Coshocton (Ohio) County Memorial Hospital plans to close its obstetrical unit June 27, according to a Coshocton Tribune report.
The hospital's community is aging, and the volume of deliveries is on the decline, which led to the hospital's decision to close the unit, according to the report. Additionally, Coshocton County Memorial only delivers roughly 36 percent of babies in its market area.
The unit closure will not lead to layoffs; rather, the OB staff will fill other positions in the hospital, according to the report.
