California lab director earns Tenet national hall of fame award

Daphne Martin, lab director for San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and Templeton, Calif.-based Twin Cities Community Hospital, was honored as part of Tenet Healthcare's annual recognition program, Paso Robles Daily News reported May 30.

Ms. Martin was named a "Tenet Hero" and inducted into the Tenet Heroes' Hall of Fame, the report said. She is one of 23 individuals or teams to earn the distinction this year. The program is designed to honor individuals who have a meaningful community impact that goes above and beyond their daily responsibilities.

"With all the talk about heroes during the pandemic, my mind almost always comes back to a certain kind of hero: the unsung hero," Tenet Health Central Coast CEO Mark Lisa told Paso Robles Daily News. "With the Tenet Hero and Hall Of Fame recognition, I am proud to have a chance to sing the praises of Daphne Martin. Daphne directs one of the invisible front lines of healthcare and she is one of the best. It is constantly challenging and even daunting, yet she excels in it with grace and humor. Her dedication to quality, safety and our patients is nothing less than inspiring."
