Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Health has launched a home healthcare company as the first startup from its new digital health incubator.
WellCent offers a platform to equip patients and caregivers with validated medical devices and resources for home care.
"With the increase in care shifting to the home setting, WellCent is prepared to be a key part of bringing families and providers together through smart homes and digitally-enabled care," Ashish Atreja, MD, CIO and chief digital health officer at UC Davis Health, said in a Jan. 9 health system news release.
UC Davis' Digital Collaborative for Innovation and Validation, or Digital CoLab, focuses on artificial intelligence and digital health. Through the initiative, UC Davis Health has also started an AI program for medical documentation and partnered with venture capital firm General Catalyst on digital innovation.
