Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine is rolling out a new mobile monitoring platform that allows clinicians to observe patient data from cardiac monitors and other bedside devices from phones, tablets, PCs or workstations.
The Sickbay Clinical Platform is currently available in the health system's adult and pediatric intensive care units and emergency departments, with plans to have it for all inpatient beds by June 2024. Leaders say it has increased their remote monitoring capabilities and ability to spot trends and signs of deterioration in patients, enhancing care coordination and collaboration along the way.
"Sickbay is a highly configurable and flexible tool, and it is also one which we feel could still be improved," said Ranjit Aiyagari, MD, chief medical information officer at Michigan Medicine, in an April 25 news release. "The vendor has been very receptive to making modifications and adjustments in response to our feedback. Sickbay can be accessed through multiple routes, including via our mobile unified communications smartphones and by users taking calls from home or off-site locations."
