The collaboration between Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham and Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to bring a medical center to the United Arab Emirates will focus on technology and digital innovation.
The two health systems are partnering with the Beeah Group, a sustainability organization based in the United Arab Emirates, to develop the Jawaher Boston Medical District in the city of Sharjah.
"Mass General Brigham has a deep history of global collaboration aimed at serving and improving the lives of patients around the world," said Raymond Liu, MD, vice president of Mass General Brigham Global Advisory, in a joint May 12 news release. "In collaborating with Beeah, we hope to contribute our decades of expertise to their development of a unique, innovative vision for a health system that builds on medicine's leading edge, with an eye to the future."
The project will include a flagship hospital and ambulatory clinics across Sharjah, as well as digital health offerings such as app-based care and hospital at home.
