MaineHealth, Northern Light Health partner to launch health tech startups in $500K program

Portland-based MaineHealth is investing $500,000 in a program to launch health tech innovators in partnership with Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health and the Roux Institute at Northeastern University in Portland.

The residency program will bring 30 early-stage health tech startups to Maine over the next three years, providing founders with $50,000 and 12 months working at the Roux Institute to develop and test their solutions with mentorship from health system leaders.

"Innovation is a core value for MaineHealth and key to supporting our vision of working together so our communities are the healthiest in America,” said Susan Ahern, vice president of innovation at MaineHealth, in a Dec. 15 health system news release. "We are excited to support those looking for tomorrow's novel solutions to complex problems our care team faces every day."

MaineHealth will have an equity stake in successful companies. The first cohort starts in the spring of 2023.
