Abridge, an artificial intelligence-powered clinical documentation platform, was named to Time's Best Inventions of 2024 list for its impact on reducing physician paperwork.
Each year, Time editors and global correspondents nominate 200 new products and ideas, based on factors such as originality, efficacy, ambition and impact. The 2024 nomination process paid particular attention to growing fields such as healthcare and AI.
Abridge's platform automatically records patient conversations and summarizes them for medical records. Time attributed its nomination to its success in streamlining documentation, billing and coding, which has increased physician-patient interaction and decreased clinical burnout. Abridge is part of Epic's Workshop co-development program, and it is used by 50,000 physicians across 50 health systems.
