The permanently closed Coppherhill, Tenn.-based Copper Basin Medical Center canceled a planned two-day sale of its supplies and medical equipment. Officials had reportedly planned to use proceeds from the sale to pay past-due wages for the hospital's former employees, according to the Cleveland Daily Banner.
Officials had reportedly planned to hold the two-day sale at the shuttered hospital Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, and hold a presale event for former employees and volunteers Thursday.
However, the hospital posted a statement on its Facebook page, stating, "Friday & Saturday's sale has been cancelled! Sorry!"
The inventory included in the sale had comprised office chairs, bookcases, wheelchairs and hospital beds, among other fixtures and items, according the hospital's Facebook page.
All items must were to be removed from the property by 4 p.m. Dec. 4, according to the Cleveland Daily Banner.
The hospital was behind on payments to employees when it shuttered Oct. 1. Hospital officials also previously asked patients to pay their remaining hospital bills to help cover at least $40,000 in past-due employee wages.
It is unclear whether officials plan to hold another sale. Hospital officials did not return Becker's requests for comment.
