6 healthcare organizations adding jobs

The following healthcare organizations shared plans to hire workers since Dec. 21, starting with the most recent.

1. Saint Francis hospitals seek nurses
Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis (Tenn.) and Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett (Tenn.) are seeking employees for a number of nursing positions. An onsite job fair and hiring event is scheduled for both the Memphis and Bartlett hospital from 8 a.m. to noon and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 24.

2. Geisinger looks to hire more than 150 nurses for northeast region
Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System seeks to hire more than 150 nurses in the northeast region. The 150-plus jobs up for grabs include options for experienced nurses and new graduates, and are available in clinical and office locations in the Pennsylvania cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, the health system said. The jobs include positions in areas such as the emergency department, critical care, medical/surgical, telemetry and progressive care unit, among others.

3. Providence Tarzana hires workers who demonstrated over lost housekeeping jobs
Providence Tarzana (Calif.) Medical Center decided last October to create an internal environmental services department instead of continuing its outsourcing contract with Sodexo, according to a statement from the hospital. Providence Tarzana said affected housekeepers remained employees of Sodexo and were invited to apply for jobs at Providence Tarzana in its new internal environmental services department. Many have been hired as Providence Tarzana employees, and began work Tuesday, according to the hospital. The hiring process continues.

4. South Lake Hospital seeks employees for new health pavilion
South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Fla., expects to hire at least 50 employees for its new health pavilion at Blue Cedar, according to an Orlando Business Journal report. The hospital broke ground on the project Jan. 12.

5. UnitedHealthcare to hire 50 senior claims appeals representatives in Connecticut
Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare is hiring 50 full-time senior claims appeals representatives for its Shelton, Conn., office, reports Hartford Business Journal. Senior claims appeals representatives are tasked with handling escalated claims and determining if the member making the appeal is authorized and if the claim is valid.    

6. Alabama hospital expansion to add more than 30 jobs
A groundbreaking ceremony Jan. 4 marked the official beginning of an expansion project at Cullman (Ala.) Regional Medical Center, according to a CullmanSense report. The project, the report notes, is expected to add 30 jobs at the hospital initially, and additional jobs when the expansion is fully complete.
