The contract between Morgantown-based West Virginia University Hospitals and Local 814, Laborers' International Union of North America has been extended after the union issued a 10-day strike notice Tuesday, according to a WDTV report.
The contract, which had been extended in the past, was set to expire Jan. 31, which coincided with the potential strike. With the new extension, the contract will be good through Feb. 28, according to the report.
The union, which represents roughly 900 service workers at WVU Hospitals, had issued another 10-day strike notice in December, which led to the first contract extension through Jan. 31.
Contact negotiations are still ongoing, according to a WVU Hospitals spokesperson.
