A group of employees at Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health have been fired over inappropriate posts made on Facebook, according to a report by 24 Hour News 8.
The posts in question discussed patient situations in enough detail that someone could identify patients involved even though names were not used, according to the report. Spectrum Health officials said the system took appropriate action for the situation.
The actual number of affected employees was not released by Spectrum, but several people were terminated, including one physician, according to 24 Hour News 8.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Spectrum Health officals said the post violated HIPAA regulations. We apologize for the error.
