Nearly 5,000 front-line healthcare workers represented by SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West at San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare have approved their first labor contract, according to a joint news release shared with Becker's.
The three-year agreement, announced Nov. 23, spans multiple Sharp facilities, including Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Sharp HospiceCare, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, and Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus.
The contract includes pay increases of up to 35% over three years and provisions to reduce family medical coverage premiums by up to 50% for front-line workers and their families, the release states.
All SEIU-UHW-represented Sharp HealthCare workers are covered under the collective bargaining agreement. This includes certified nursing assistants, phlebotomists, licensed vocational nurses, respiratory care practitioners, pharmacy technicians, patient transporters, radiologic and surgical technologists, lab technicians, nursing unit clerks, and others.
