Nurses at Chino (Calif.) Valley Medical Center launched a three-day strike Oct. 29 amid contract negotiations with the hospital's owner, Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare, according to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
The United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, which represents the nurses, estimated about 200 members are participating in the walkout.
Progress has been made in negotiations with Prime in some areas, such as benefits, vacations and holiday pay, a member of the union's bargaining committee told the Daily Bulletin. However, picketing nurses say salary remains a key sticking point.
The nurses and Prime are negotiating their first labor deal and have been in contract talks since February.
Hospital spokesperson Brianne Underwood told Becker's Hospital Review the hospital looks forward to nurses returning to work on Nov. 1 and continuing negotiations.
