Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem has offered voluntary retirement packages to roughly 300 employees, according to a Crain's Chicago Business report.
If the 300 employees take the retirement offer, it will cut the system's workforce by 3 percent. Additionally, the system has announced it will freeze its employee pension plan at the end of this year and move its employees to a defined-contribution savings plan, according to the report.
The cost-saving changes come as NorthShore responds to the financial challenges presented by the Affordable Care Act, Crain's Chicago Business reported.
