Heritage Valley Beaver Nurses Approve Strike in Vote

Nurses at Heritage Valley Beaver (Pa.), a 361-bed hospital and part of the Heritage Valley Health System, passed a vote to strike if a contract agreement is not reached, according to a Pittsburgh Business Times report.

The Service Employees International Union represents roughly 500 registered nurses at the hospital, according to the report. An agreement has not been reached because the nurses object to a pay freeze requested by hospital management, as well as staff assignment rules, according to the report.

Negotiations between the two parties are ongoing, the Pittsburgh Business Times reported. The current contract will expire in about two weeks.
