UPMC, Jameson Health approve definitive merger agreement

The boards of directors of Jameson Health System, based in New Castle, Pa., and Pittsburgh-based UPMC have formally approved a definitive agreement to merge Jameson Health into the UPMC network.

The process of joining the two systems began when Jameson Health, which includes 254-bed Jameson Hospital North Campus and Jameson Hospital South Campus, signed a letter of intent to merge with UPMC in September 2014.

With the definitive agreement approved, the transaction will go through the process of receiving regulatory approval and then be finalized with the establishment of UPMC Jameson.

Regarding the merger, Jameson Health released a statement saying the partnership of the two systems "will ensure world-class quality for our communities as well as long-term access to high-quality healthcare for our region."
