Angleton (Texas) DanburyMedicalCenter and the University of Texas Medical Branch inGalveston have signed a letter of intent to explore a possible long-term, formal relationship.
The goal of the relationship would be to prepare both organizations to succeed in an accountable care environment. The details of any possible partnership are being negotiated, according to a news release.
"We are proud of the healthcare services we have provided to the residents of our community and are excited about the possibilities for growth and expansion that a formal relationship with UTMB Health would allow," Dave Bleakney, CEO of Angleton Danbury Medical Center, said in the release. "It is certainly in line with our mission of nearly 45 years, improving the health status of our community through education, prevention and quality care."
Any agreement between UTMB and Angleton Danbury will require approval from the medical center's board of directors and the University of Texas System board of regents. A decision regarding the partnership and related approvals are expected to be made by late spring or early summer, according to the release.
