The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center officially closed on its acquisition of Lakeside Health System's property in Brockport, N.Y.
The purchased Lakeside assets include the former Lakeside Memorial Hospital, which closed this past April due to financial troubles, a physician office building, two primary care practices and an urgent care center. The new campus will be called URMC Strong West.
In addition, URMC is looking for state approval to open a freestanding emergency department and an ambulatory surgery center on the campus by early next year.
URMC announced its intent to acquire the Lakeside facilities in July.
