University of Kansas Cancer Center, Kansas City Cancer Center to Merge

The University of Kansas Cancer Center and U.S. Oncology's Kansas City Cancer Center have announced plans to merge to create an outpatient cancer care organization, according to a news release by the organizations.

The partnership will expand opportunities for advanced cancer research, Phase I clinical research trials and supports the efforts of National Cancer Institute designation, according to the organizations.

As part of the agreement, KCCC staff will become part of The University of Kansas Hospital, and KCCC physicians will become members of the The University of Kansas Physicians and faculty of The University of Kansas Medical Center.

U.S. Oncology will remain part of the operation by providing some proprietary products and will collaborate on research.
