Texas' Scott & White Healthcare Finalizes Partnership With Trinity Medical Center

Temple, Texas-based Scott & White Healthcare has finalized a partnership agreement with Trinity Medical Center in Brenham, Texas, expanding the Scott & White system to 10 hospitals or hospital partners, according to a Scott & White news release.

Under the partnership, Trinity Medical Center will be renamed Scott & White Hospital-Brenham, but current leadership will remain in place.

"This partnership allows us to provide enhanced support to Brenham physicians, while expanding services for patients," Donald Draehn, MD, chief of staff at Scott & White Hospital-Brenham, said in the release. "The medical staff will remain an 'open' staff model, which means patients won't be required to have a Scott & White physician in order to use the hospital services and any local physician with privileges can use the facility."

In April 2010, the former Trinity Health Services Corporation and its sponsor, the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, agreed to end their 20-year relationship. The partnership with Scott & White was contingent upon the final dissolution of Trinity's affiliation with the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania as well as several other steps related to partnership transactions.

The two groups first announced their intent to partner in Nov. 2009.
