St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb., may acquire physician-owned Nebraska Heart Hospital, also in Lincoln, according to a Lincoln Journal Star report.
The two groups are currently in talks about a sale, but not specific details have been released.
The move is intended to help both hospitals "deal with the requirements of the federal health care reform law," according to the report. Healthcare reform put severe restrictions on physician-owned hospitals, such as prohibiting the expansion of these facilities.
