Regional Care Hospital Partners and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System have agreed to partner and will identify ways to collaborate to improve local healthcare quality, according to a Times Daily report.
As part of the agreement, physicians at RegionalCare's Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Ala., and Shoals Hospital in Muscle Shoals, Ala., will be able to exchange medical records with physicians at UAB so that physicians at the RegionalCare hospitals can continue to monitor patients if they are referred to UAB. The partnership could also include sending UAB physicians to ECM and Shoals hospitals to treat patients.
Both systems will remain separate and no fee is associated with the agreement, according to the report.
