Bon Secours Virginia Health System in Richmond and Hampton Roads, Va., will acquire Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Va., according to a Richmond Times-Dispatch report.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the transaction, Rappahannock's Chesapeake Medical Group and the Rappahannock General Hospital Foundation will also become part of Bon Secours, according to the report. The acquisition — which requires approval from the state attorney general's office and Virginia Department of Health — builds on an existing clinical affiliation, which the two organizations originally signed a letter of intent to explore in April 2011.
Rappahannock General Hospital is a 76-bed nonprofit hospital. Bon Secours includes seven hospitals and is part of Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System.
