Despite receiving scrutiny for several legal and billing issues in recent years, Ontario, Calif.-based for-profit hospital operator Prime Healthcare Services has made yet another massive push to expand its footprint.
Just in the past month or so, Prime has announced six separate transactions with different hospitals and health systems. The acquisitions are listed below, starting with the most recent.
1. Prime Healthcare to acquire St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron
Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Saint Joseph Mercy Health System — a member of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health — has entered into a definitive agreement to sell 164-bed St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (Mich.) hospital to Prime Healthcare Services.
2. CHS to sell Dallas Regional Medical Center to Prime Healthcare
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to sell Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas, and its related outpatient services to Prime Healthcare Services.
3. IASIS Healthcare signs definitive agreement to sell North Vista Hospital
Franklin, Tenn.-based IASIS Healthcare signed a definitive agreement to sell 177-bed North Vista Hospital in Las Vegas to Prime Healthcare Services.
4. CHS to sell Riverview Regional Medical Center to Prime Healthcare
Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to sell substantially all of the assets of Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Ala., and its related outpatient services, Prime Healthcare Services.
5. Sale of Monroe Hospital to Prime Healthcare approved by bankruptcy judge
The sale of Bloomington, Ind.-based Monroe Hospital to Prime Healthcare Services was approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James Carr.
6. Daughters of Charity Health System submits sale application to Attorney General
Daughters of Charity Health System — a six-hospital network based in Los Altos Hills, Calif. —submitted an application to the California Attorney General requesting consent to transfer control of its hospitals to Prime Healthcare Services.
