Pikeville (Ky.) Medical Center became the latest member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a collaboration in which hospitals and health systems can use Mayo Clinic's expertise in their own communities.
Physicians at PMC, a 261-bed hospital, will be able to network with Mayo Clinic specialists electronically and have access to strategies to improve care delivery. The announcement is not a merger or acquisition, as PMC will still keep its independence.
The Mayo Clinic Care Network now has member hospitals in 10 different states and Puerto Rico. Last week, Mayo Clinic also announced its network has gone global, as Medica Sur, a health system in Mexico, became its first international member.
