Pennsylvania State Senator Shirley Kitchen (D-Pa.) expressed disapproval of Ontario, Calif-based Prime Healthcare Services' acquisition of Roxborough Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia in a March 26 letter to the director of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Eli Avila, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
It is not clear why Ms. Kitchen feels the need to halt the Roxborough acquisition. According to the report, the letter asks for Mr. Avila's help in halting the Prime and Roxborough deal. The report says Ms. Kitchen's actions "appear to be too late," as Prime bought Roxborough in February for an undisclosed amount.
