New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System and St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, La., have announced an intent to expand their strategic relationship, under which Ochsner would provide management services to the 59-bed community hospital.
Under the expanded affiliation, Ochsner would provide management services and assist the local management team at St. Charles Parish, according to a news release from both organizations. However, the St. Charles Hospital Service District would retain its ownership of the hospital and the Hospital Service District Board would continue to serve as the board of the hospital with the same responsibilities for oversight.
Ochsner and St. Charles Parish have shared a strategic relationship since 2008. Current services between the two entities include Ochsner's telestroke program, neurology services and primary care services.
"We are excited to expand our affiliation with Ochsner," Federico Martinez Jr., CEO, of St. Charles Parish said in the release. "As a community hospital, we have a duty to care for the people of St. Charles Parish. This opportunity allows us to continue to strengthen existing services while increasing access to resources not currently available to our patients."
