New Jersey's Virtua Partners With Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for Pediatric Services

Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua, which operates hospitals and other healthcare services throughout South Jersey, has announced a partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for pediatric services at Virtua's facilities in Mount Holly and Voorhees, N.J., according to a Virtua news release.

As part of the partnership, CHOP-employed physicians will provide care in Virtua's inpatient pediatric units and its pediatric intensive care unit as well as providing pediatric emergency care in its emergency departments. CHOP physicians will begin providing services at Virtua on February 1, 2011.

"This is a truly exciting collaboration as we see great synergy and alignment in our mutual commitment to quality and service excellence," Steven M. Altschuler, MD, CEO of CHOP said in a statement. "CHOP is recognized nationally as the premier children's hospital and Virtua provides a launching pad for children with almost 8,000 births a year. CHOP brings added specialties to an already well-established pediatric program at Virtua. This partnership adds a rich, new dimension to pediatric care in South Jersey."
