Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health, now part of the newly formed Vandalia Health, is looking at continued growth now that Vandalia continues to bed in as a merged system, according to a The State Journal report May 8.
Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health, formed through the merger of Mon Health and CAMA Health System, is a nine-hospital system with three other affiliated medical centers. The system employs over 12,000 people, making it the second-largest nongovernment employer in the state, the report said.
One of Mon Health's new projects is a $22.5 million, approximately 20,000-square-foot hospital in Bridgeport. The hospital is facing delays in construction because of supply chain pressures, the report stated.
"Scale matters when it comes to health care," David Goldberg, president and CEO of Mon Health, told The State Journal. "If you can buy things as a larger organization, your cost per unit goes down. … that's one of the benefits of being a larger system."
