MMHS and ProMedica will now begin a due diligence period, which could take several months to complete. Once that is finished, the board of trustees for each organization will have to approve the agreement, and the hospitals would enter into an exclusive negotiation period to further refine the agreement.

MMHS will maintain a board of trustees after it becomes a member of ProMedica.
