MD Anderson announces affiliation with two Centura Health hospitals

Two hospitals owned by Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health are now members of the MD Anderson Cancer Network, according to The Pueblo Chieftain.

As part of the Houston-based network, physicians at Pueblo, Colo.-based St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center and Penrose St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs will be able to participate in video conferences and tumor boards with MD Anderson clinicians. These physicians will also be able to engage in peer-to-peer second opinions.

"Patients facing rare or complex forms of cancer sometimes are required to travel great distances for care," Mallory MacFarlane, a spokesperson for St. Mary-Corwin, told The Pueblo Chieftain. "Through collaboration with MD Anderson Cancer Network, St. Mary-Corwin is leading the local fight against cancer, keeping the support of family and loved ones close by, in the confidence of knowing that the best minds in cancer are working together."
