Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has added Saudi German Hospital Cairo in Egypt to the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a select group of independent health systems that have access to Mayo Clinic's knowledge and medical expertise.
Saudi German Hospital Cairo is a 300-bed tertiary care hospital. As a network member, the hospital will have access to Mayo Clinic's tool that provides clinical information on hundreds of medical conditions, second opinions on specific patient cases from Mayo Clinic specialists and healthcare consulting, among other resources.
"Joining Mayo Clinic Care Network as the first hospital in Africa reflects our ultimate dedication to provide the best we can to our patients," Mohamed Hablas, MD, CEO of Saudi German Hospital Cairo, said in a news release. "This membership provides us with an access to get better care for more patients in Egypt, Middle East and Africa."
Overall, there are more than 40 May Clinic network members in the U.S., Asia, Mexico and the Middle East.
