New Orleans-based University Medical Center and the state of Louisiana reached an agreement that will grant the hospital full funding for its charity care services, according to The Times-Picayune.
The University Medical Center is the largest of nine hospitals in the state currently in process of transitioning to private operators. New Orleans-based LCMC Health and Baton Rouge, La.-based Louisiana State University will continue to operate the University Medical Center through a joint partnership.
The agreement requires the hospital to enter into a contract with LSU to allow the university to analyze data to improve quality metrics and patient outcomes. The agreement also requires the hospital to provide increased mental health services to residents in the area, according to the article.
The Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana, the operator that runs LSU's hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe, has yet to sign off on the administration's final offer.
