Flint, Mich.-based Insight, a health network that includes two hospitals and multiple ASCs, has completed the acquisition of Blessing Health Keokuk (Iowa), which closed Oct. 1, according to ABC affiliate KHQA.
Insight finalized the deal on March 24 with the transfer of ownership of the hospital building and other property from Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health System.
Insight plans to operate the hospital as a nonprofit and is considering converting the facility into a rural emergency hospital under CMS' designation that went into effect Jan. 1.
"We look forward to providing critically needed medical services to residents of Keokuk and surrounding communities," Insight Chief Strategy Officer Atif Bawahab said, according to the report. "We understand the urgency of the situation. With the necessary regulatory and financial support, Insight aims to begin providing medical services consistent with the community's needs later this year."
Blessing continues to operate a primary care clinic in Keokuk, as well as a medical equipment and supply provider, according to KHQA.
