Geisinger Health Systems in Danville, Pa., and Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa., are planning to merge, according to a Times-Tribune report.
The Pennsylvania attorney general's office will review the impending transaction, which the report said could lead to $158 million in capital improvements to CMC.
According to the report, CMC and Geisinger originally planned to merge in Dec. 2009, but plans collapsed with neither party indicating why the deal fell through.
A press conference of the merger is expected to occur today, the report said.
