The Federal Trade Commission's ruling on Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare's proposed acquisition of Rockford (Ill.) Health System is expected by the end of the month, according to a Rockford Register Star report.
Officials from the systems announced their plans to integrate in February. The deal would create the OSF Northern Region. The state approved the proposal in May.
The FTC requested additional information from the systems, which they submitted Oct. 14. The FTC has 30 days to review that data, although the deadline can be extended.
Gary Kaatz, president and CEO of RHS, and Dave Schertz, president and CEO of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, released a joint statement saying they "have no question that the affiliation is competitively appropriate," according to the report.
