FTC Approves Merger Between New York's St. Peter's, Northeast Health and Seton Health

The Federal Trade Commission has completed its review of the proposed merger of St. Peter's Healthcare Services in Albany, N.Y., with Troy, N.Y.'s Northeast Health and Seton Health System, and has not challenged the transaction, according to a joint press release by the health systems.  

The merger will create a non-profit organization with board members from all three systems to be the parent company of Northeast, St. Peter's and Seton. As part of the merger, a new Outpatient Cancer Treatment Center will be constructed at Seton's St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, N.Y. and renovations and other investments will be made at St. Mary's and Northeast's Albany (N.Y.) Memorial and Samaritan Hospitals in Troy, N.Y. St. Peters Hospital in Albany, N.Y., is currently conducting a $258 million renovation and construction program to be completed in 2013.

The merger is expected to be completed by late summer, but full integration may take up to three years, according to the release.
