CVS Health enters into clinical affiliations with 3 academic medical centers

CVS Health has entered into clinical affiliations with Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System.

Under the agreements, the EHRs used by CVS and the medical centers will be integrated to allow CVS to provide patient prescription and visit information to the healthcare organizations. Through the integration of the systems, CVS will be able to send alerts to the medical centers' physicians regarding potential medication non-adherence issues.

CVS HealthIn addition, physicians affiliated with the medical centers will collaborate with the nurse practitioners at MinuteClinics — the retail medical clinic division of CVS — to work on joint clinical programs.

With the new agreements, CVS and MinuteClinic are affiliated with 44 health systems and healthcare providers.
