Community Health Systems Offers $5M Bid for West Virginia's Bluefield Regional

A subsidiary of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has offered a bid of $5 million for Bluefield (W.Va.) Regional Medical Center, according to a Bluefield Daily Telegraph report.

The hospital and CHS signed a non-binding letter of intent at the end of March, and the West Virginia Health Care Authority approved CHS's certificate of need to acquire the facility at the end of August.

The subsidiary, Bluefield Hospital Company, offered the minimum bid for the facility. The subsidiary now has 45 days to enter into a purchase agreement with Bluefield's Municipal Buildings Commission.
