Cleveland Clinic entered into an agreement to potentially integrate Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health System as a full member, the three-hospital system announced March 22.
The organizations have not outlined a timeframe for negotiations.
Cleveland Clinic and Martin Health System announced a cardiac partnership last January.
"Through our recent cardiac affiliation we have seen many synergies already and are excited to embark on this next phase of discussions," said Wael Barsoum, MD, CEO and president of Cleveland Clinic Florida. "We believe Martin Health can play an integral role in the expansion of Cleveland Clinic services in southeast Florida and look forward to exploring the possibilities our health systems may have together for the benefit of the communities we serve."
