Tacoma, Wash.-based CHI Franciscan Health and The University of Washington Tacoma expanded their existing collaboration to improve UW Tacoma students' access to healthcare services.
Under the partnership — effective July 5 — students will be able to visit six CHI Franciscan Health prompt care facilities across the Puget Sound area. Students will also have access to the health system's virtual urgent care program, according to an emailed news release.
The health system's St. Joseph Medical Center facility in Tacoma will become the designated hub for student health services, providing students with access to various services such as physicals and preventative medicine.
Through the virtual urgent care program, students will have access to physicians and nurse practioners via video chat or over the phone. Clinicians will be able to provide consultations, diagnoses and treatment, including prescribing medication, when appropriate.
The organizations initially partnered in 2010.
