Patchogue, N.Y.-based Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center finalized its acquisition of the property formerly belonging to the Yaphank, N.Y.-based John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Home Facility, according to the Long Island Advance.
The board of directors approved the transaction on Sept. 13. Brookhaven CEO Rich Marguilis signed the contract the following day.
The two facilities have been in talks to affiliate since Sept. 2015. In May, the medical center offered $15 million for the former nursing home, which shuttered its doors in June 2013.
Mr. Marguilis said the medical center hopes to start construction on the space by mid-2017, according to the article.
