Paris (Texas) Regional Medical Center has signed an affiliation agreement with Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health.
Paris Regional is a 368-bed hospital within RegionalCare Hospital Partners, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based for-profit operator with eight hospitals in all. Baylor Scott & White, the largest nonprofit health system in Texas, was created last year through the merger of Dallas-based Baylor Health Care System and Temple-based Scott & White Healthcare.
Under the deal, Paris Regional will be a Baylor Scott & White affiliate for five years, receiving advisory services for several service lines (including cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, neurology, women's services and digestive diseases), continuing medical education support and emergency preparedness capabilities, according to a news release. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
RegionalCare, backed by New York City-based private equity firm Warburg Pincus, was in the news last year. Rumors had surfaced that Chicago-based private equity firm GTCR was attempting to sell Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare. RegionalCare reportedly was one of the interested parties. However, Capella officials have since said the company is not for sale.
