5 rural hospitals form collaborative in Maine

Five rural hospitals in Maine have teamed up to form the Maine Rural Health Collaborative, which will help the organizations face challenges presented by the shifting healthcare landscape and rural patient population, according to the St. John Valley Times.

The five hospitals include Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, Cary Medical Center in Caribou, Houlton (Maine) Regional Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor and Mount Desert Hospital in Bar Harbor.

A business model, strategic plan and budget have been approved. Peggy Pinkham, RN, MBA, will serve as the executive director, according to the report. Ms. Pinkham is the former president and CEO of St. Andrews Hospital and Healthcare Center in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
