In January, the University of Arizona board of regents unanimously approved a merger between Phoenix-based Banner Health and University of Arizona Health Network in Tucson.
That merger officially took effect Feb. 27, according to an Arizona Daily Star report.
Here are three facts related to the deal, as provided by the Arizona Daily Star.
1. The UA Medical Center-University Campus is renamed Banner-University Medical Center Tucson. The UA Medical Center-South Campus is renamed Banner-University Medical Center South.
2. Banner officials plan to upgrade and expand the hospital at 1501 N. Campbell Ave.
3. The merger makes Banner Health the largest private employer in the state.
