A Wall Street Journal report notes the abundance of recent hospital transactions.

The transactions mentioned include:

- RegionalCare in Brentwood, Tenn., signed a letter of intent to buy Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I.

- RegionalCare made an unsolicited offer to operate Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center.

- Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Conn., entered a joint venture with LHP Hospital Group.

- Iasis Healthcare bought a 78.2 percent stake in St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston.

- Cerberus' Steward Health Care System made a $1.1 billion offer to buy Jackson Health System in Miami.

RegionalCare's offer to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and Steward's offer to Jackson Health System were unsolicited.
