Geneva, Ill.-based Delnor Health System and Winfield, Ill.-based Central DuPage Health have announced their intent to merge into a single, integrated health system, according to a Central DuPage news release.
Over the next several months, Delnor Health, which operated 159-bed Delnor Hospital, and Central DuPage will complete a due diligence process to further define their vision and agreement, which will be subject to governmental review and approval.
The goal of the proposed merger is to expand the market share of the systems' in Chicago's western suburbs and improve overall access to care for the area.
Under the proposed agreement, each health system's CEO will remain in place until the deal is completed. At that time, Central DuPage President and CEO Luke McGuinness would assume the role of the system's CEO. Delnor Hospital CEO Thomas L. Wright will remain on as CEO of the Delnor facility. The health system would be governed by a board of directors with equal representation from Delnor's and CDH's current boards, according to the report.
