Stafford Springs, Conn.-based Johnson Memorial Medical Center has been in affiliation talks with four hospitals, according to a Hartford Business Journal report.
Interim CEO David Morgan said he has talked with Hartford, Conn.'s Hartford Healthcare and St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center as well as Springfield, Mass.'s Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center regarding an affiliation. Mr. Morgan said he hopes to reach an affiliation agreement by the end of the summer.
Johnson Memorial came out of bankruptcy in October, but still faces financial problems. An affiliation would help the hospital leverage a larger organization's purchasing power and gain access to more capital for investments, according to the report.
