Certificate of Need Filed for Proposed Merger of Two West Virginia Hospitals

A certificate of need has been filed with the West Virginia Health Care Authority for the proposed merger of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital, both in Parkersburg, W.Va., according to a News and Sentinel report.

The proposed merger was announced in September. Under the deal, St. Joseph's will join West Virginia United Health System, while simultaneously affiliating with Camden-Clark.

The purchase of St. Joseph's is valued at $100 million, which is being financed through WVUHS and the new entity created by the merger of St. Joseph's and Camden-Clark, according to the report.

A ruling on the certificate-of-need request is expected in early December.
