Cris Rivera, FACHE, has served as CEO of Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas since November 2012. RGRH is an affiliate of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA.
Ms. Rivera just recently took the helm at RGRH, but she is no stranger to the 320-bed facility. She started her career in healthcare as a lab supervisor at the hospital in 1982. "It's been 30 years since I first worked at Rio Grande Regional Hospital," Ms. Rivera said in a news release. "It's a great homecoming and I look forward to…continuing Rio Grande Regional Hospital's commitment to quality and compassionate care."
In between her two positions at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Ms. Rivera has led many other HCA facilities to success. She most recently was CEO of Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kan. Under her leadership, the hospital received recognition from The Joint Commission for being one of the nation's top performers on key quality measures. Prior to that, she served as CEO of Savoy Medical Center in Mamou, La. While there, she helped complete several renovation projects and also opened a health clinic with pediatric and obstetrical services.
Outside of hospital administrative duties, Ms. Rivera has served on the board of the Kansas Association of Healthcare Executives and is involved in charitable organizations such as the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes.
